  • 🏈 (NFL) Jaguars DE Travon Walker. Not one, not two, but three sacks from Travon Walker went a long way in Jacksonville’s 37-34 win on Sunday. It was the first 3-sack game of Walker’s career, and his third career multi-sack game — with all three coming in the Jaguars’ last eight games. The former first overall pick is currently tied for fifth in sacks (5). “He was big,” coach Doug Pederson said after the game. “It was good to see him take that step forward.” -Gus Logue

  • 🏈 (CFB) Florida Gators. Say what you want about the Florida Gators, they sure aren’t playing like its a failed season. After dominant wins over Mississippi State and (arguable) in-state rival UCF, Billy Napier’s club finds themselves sitting at 3-2. A bowl appearance is more realistic for the Gators than previously thought, and Ole Miss, LSU and Florida State are more beatable — in the Noles’ case, much more beatable — than expected as well. -Trent Osborne

  • 🏀 Orlando Magic C Wendell Carter Jr. The former Duke Blue Devil signed a three-year, $59 million contract extension on Monday. He averaged 11 points per game on a career-best 60% effective field goal percentage for the Magic last year after being drafted 7th overall by the Bulls in 2018. Orlando also signed Franz Wagner and Jonathan Isaac to contract extensions this offseason to keep its core intact. -Gus Logue

  • ⚾️ Trinity Christian Academy OF Brady Harris. The Jacksonville high school baseball star announced an NIL deal this week with meal prep company Super Fit Foods. Harris, a 2026 University of Florida commit, is regarded as the top prep player in the city. It’s possible, if not likely, that Harris will be a first-round draft pick in the 2026 MLB Draft. -Andrew Gibson

  • 🏈 (NFL) Jaguars S Antonio Johnson. Jacksonville’s defense has had to play less man coverage than it’d like because it doesn’t have the horses to hold up. Even with Tyson Campbell out with a hamstring injury, the cornerback unit has been good enough, but the same can’t be said about the safety group. Second-year pro Antonio Johnson has especially struggled; he’s allowed the second-most targets, catches and yards in man coverage among all safeties this season (per PFF). -Gus Logue

  • 🏈 (CFB) Michigan Wolverines. First year head coach Sherrone Moore is owed a good amount of grace for the Wolverines’ rocky start. Michigan is 128th in returning production and, due to the timeline of Jim Harbaugh’s departure, they didn’t have a chance to reload in the December transfer window. All that being said… woof. The defending national champions look like a shell of their former selves. There’s been a dip in play from their four projected NFL first round picks and they are now on their third starting quarterback of the season, none of whom look good enough to be starting for a serious Big 10 contender. -Trent Osborne

  • 🏀 Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks feel like a forgotten contender. The Celtics are ready to run it back, the Knicks made several offseason splashes, the Sixers added Paul George, and the Magic and Pacers continue to ascend. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard have a lot to prove this season, especially with Milwaukee having been knocked out in the first round of consecutive postseasons. -Gus Logue

  • ⚾️ Miami Marlins coaching staff. The Marlins have hit the reset button once again. Craig Mish of the Miami Herald reported last week that the entire Marlins coaching staff would not be brought back in 2025. This was expected news after it was announced in September that manager Skip Schumaker would not return. After making the postseason in 2023, the Marlins spiraled to a 100-loss season in 2024. -Andrew Gibson
