  • 🏈 (NFL) Jaguars LT Walker Little. Jacksonville locked up the 45th overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft on a three-year, $45 million contract extension with $26 million guaranteed. Those monetary numbers each rank top-15 among all left tackles. Considering the lack of depth at the position league-wide, this was good business by the Jaguars to sign a serviceable blindside protector to a fairly mild deal. The real question is whether general manager Trent Baalke (who usually swears against in-season extensions) made this move because his job is secure, or because he’s worried it’s not. -Gus Logue

  • 🏀 Hornets G LaMelo Ball. Though he's going to miss some time due to a left calf strain, Ball has been absolute must-see TV when he graces the floor. In the month of November, he was averaging just under 32 points a contest to go with 6 assists and 5 rebounds per game. He had eight 30-point games, a 40-point outing and a 50-point showing. Despite the fact that he's in small-market Charlotte, it may be time to ask if this is the best point guard in the Eastern Conference. -RJ Saunders

  • ⚾️ Former Rays SS Willy Adames. Adames is positioned for a major payday as an unrestricted free agent. He put together the best season of his seven-year MLB career in Milwaukee this year with 32 home runs and 112 RBI. With an upgrade needed at shortstop, look for the Braves to be in the mix. -Andrew Gibson

  • 🏈 (NFL) Respect for the Texans. On Sunday, Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair laid a late, dirty hit on Trevor Lawrence that cleared benches and sparked a brawl. Then, despite Al-Shaair being suspended by the NFL for 3 games due to a history of unnecessary roughness, Texans coach DeMeco Ryans stood behind his player and called reactions to the play mere overreactions, adding that Lawrence should have slid earlier. Ryans is wrong. Al-Shaair was clearly looking to hurt Lawrence, and there is no place for that type of malicious play in today’s league. It’s shameful that Ryans is allowing it in his building. I don’t blame any Jags fans who feel some type of way about Houston now. -Gus Logue

  • 🏀 Lakers F LeBron James. This is something we've rarely seen. In all honesty, it may have never been seen before. For context, James shot below 50% from the field just three times in his final 23 regular season games last year; he had six games in that stretch of at least 30 points on at least 60% shooting. This year, he’s shot below 50% in 11 of 21 games and has just one game with at least 30 on 60%. Is it just a bit of a tough period for James? Or could this be father time finally tapping him on the shoulder? -RJ Saunders

  • ⚾️ MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred. Manfred says there is “buzz” around adding a "Golden At-Bat" rule to Major League Baseball, per Jayson Stark of The Athletic. This rule would allow a team to choose one at-bat in every game to use their best hitter regardless of where they're at in the lineup. The suggested rule has been widely criticized across the sport. The pitch clock Manfred instituted is working for MLB, but many believe he tinkers with the game too much. -Andrew Gibson
