  • 🏈 Jaguars’ offensive trenches. Jacksonville addressed its biggest weakness — blocking — as soon as the NFL’s “negotiation period” of free agency began on Monday. Versatile veteran Patrick Mekari is expected to start at right guard, former Buc Robert Hainsey figures to start at center, and tight ends Hunter Long and Johhny Mundt will provide significant upgrades in the run game over the recently released Evan Engram. The pass-catching ability in that unit took a hit, but overall, the Jaguars did an admirable job of adding talent where they needed it most. -Gus Logue

  • 🏀 Oklahoma City Thunder. Despite a recent loss at the hands of the Nuggets, the Thunder continue to run away with the best record in the Western Conference. Oklahoma City’s offense still ranks No. 1 in the league and MVP frontrunner Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had scored 40-plus points in three straight games before delivering a 25-point, 7-assist outing against the Nuggets. OKC will now prepare to play five straight games against the Eastern Conference, and they currently holds a 21-1 record vs their foes in the East. However, this will be a tough, three-game trip as they tip off their road trip in Boston on Wednesday night. -RJ Saunders

  • ⚾️ Royals 1B prospect Jac Caglianone. The former Gators two-way star has picked up where he left off by routinely smashing mammoth home runs. In just 12 at-bats this spring with the Royals, Cags is batting .500 with 3 home runs and 5 RBIs. His most recent homer on Sunday traveled 444 feet and had an absurd exit velocity of 114 MPH. Gators fans won’t have to wait very long before Caglianone is hammering homers in the big leagues. -Andrew Gibson

  • 🏈 Jaguars CB Jarrian Jones. Perhaps the single splashiest move Jacksonville made this week was agreeing to terms with former Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis. He is objectively a good football player, but his addition is a bit puzzling considering how well Jarrian Jones played in the slot as a rookie last season. At 5’ 10” and sub-200 pounds, Lewis figures to primarily line up in the slot, making Jones’ fit in the 2025 Jaguars defense murky to say the least. -Gus Logue

  • 🏀 New York Knicks. The Knicks played three good teams last week, and had lost three consecutive games for the second time this season before their 133-104 win against the Kings. Additionally, they’ve lost star guard Jalen Brunson to an ankle injury during that stretch. New York is currently 2-5 since the All-Star break against teams with winning records. The current No. 3 seed in the East have also had a tough showing shooting the ball from beyond the arc, shooting below 30% before finding the touch against the Kings and making good on 55% on their threes. When fully healthy, this squad will certainly be a tough out for anyone come playoff time, though it’s hard to see them being a real threat to the teams ranked above them in the conference. -RJ Saunders

  • ⚾️ Yankees P Gerrit Cole. The Yankees ace underwent Tommy John surgery on Tuesday and will miss the 2025 season. It’s a devastating blow to New York, who reached the World Series in 2024. Cole has been the true definition of a workhorse pitcher having eclipsed 200 innings in two of the last three seasons. The free agent addition of Max Fried will certainly help the New York rotation, but there is no sugarcoating the loss of the six-time All-Star. The Yankees figure to make a significant move at some point to fill the void left by his season-ending injury. -Andrew Gibson
