  • 🏈 (NFL) Trade talks. After losing 35-16 to the Bears on Sunday, the 1-5 Jaguars kicked off the start of the NFL trade season. DL Roy Robertson-Harris was shipped to Seattle for a 2026 sixth-round pick on Monday — on Tuesday, blockbusters were made elsewhere in the league as Davante Adams and Amari Cooper found new homes. Jacksonville will be listening to calls for other players such as Travis Etienne, Christian Kirk and Devin Lloyd until the trade deadline on November 5th. -Gus Logue

  • 🏈 (CFB) Penn State Nittany Lions. It can debated just how good of a team USC is, but an overtime road game against a solid opponent has traditionally been the kind that James Franklin’s squad loses. After Saturday’s thrilling comeback to beat the Trojans 33-30 in OT, the Lions from Happy Valley find themselves on the inside track to the Big 10 Championship game, one they haven’t played in since 2016. Penn State is currently in a three-way tie with Oregon and Indiana for first in the conference, and Franklin could be a win over Ryan Day’s Buckeyes away from the school’s first 12-0 season since 1994. -Trent Osborne

  • 🏀 Lakers SG Max Christie. It is believed that Christie has the potential to become a solid 3-and-D player. He wasn’t able to show all he could do last season under then head coach Darvin Ham. However, under JJ Redick, it looks like the Lakers will emphasize youth and player development. Christie will be a guy they’ll have at the front of that list. You can argue that other than a “bruising” center, L.A.'s biggest need is 3-and-D wings, so it’d be a huge boost if Christie takes a step forward. -RJ Saunders

  • ⚾️ Yankees OF Giancarlo Stanton. The former Jacksonville Suns star has helped lead New York to a 2-0 series lead in the ALCS over Cleveland. Known as Mike Stanton during his days in Jacksonville, the Yankees slugger hit a crucial home run in Monday night’s 5-2 victory. If New York makes it to the World Series, his bat will be a big reason why. -Andrew Gibson

  • 🏈 (NFL) Jaguars coaches. It’s hard to imagine Jacksonville’s coaches surviving the season, let alone the rest of the London trip. Andre Cisco said he saw “a lot of quit” from the team on Sunday; while the players certainly aren’t blameless, it’s on Doug Pederson, Ryan Nielsen, etc. to get the most out of their guys on gamedays. If the Jaguars allow a breakout performance from rookie quarterback Drake Maye this week, a firing could come soon after. -Gus Logue

  • 🏈 (CFB) Ole Miss Runnin’ Rebels. After finishing 2023 with the most wins in a single season in program history, calling the Rebels’ 2024 campaign disappointing would be an understatement. Ole Miss came into this season as a trendy dark horse to win the SEC but they now sit with two conference losses halfway through October. They must go undefeated against Oklahoma, Arkansas, Georgia, Florida, and Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl to make the playoff. If they don’t, the rumors of Lane Kiffin leaving the program will rise from a simmering flame to an all out inferno. -Trent Osborne

  • 🏀 76ers C Joel Embiid’s minutes. The former league MVP, who has struggled with injuries since being drafted third overall in 2014, made a startling proclamation about his playing status going forward. Embiid stated that if he “had to guess, I would probably never play back-to-backs the rest of my career.” The logic behind that is fair due to the Sixers wanting him to be as fresh as possible come playoff time. However, in a deepened Eastern Conference, seeding will be incredibly important. The games Embiid misses could hurt Philadelphia down the line. -RJ Saunders

  • ⚾️ Braves hitting coach Kevin Seitzer. In a bit of a surprising move, the Braves fired Seitzer along with two other assistant coaches on Thursday. Atlanta set franchise records on offense in 2023 but saw major regression this season. A contributing factor to that regression was injuries to multiple All-Star players throughout the year. It hardly seems fair to dismiss the hitting coach when players like Ronald Acuña Jr. and Austin Riley were lost for the season. -Andrew Gibson
