  • 🏈 Jacksonville’s youth movement. The Jaguars are starting from scratch. Previously, team owner Shad Khan hired individuals who had already been to the top of the mountain (Tom Coughlin, Trent Baalke, Urban Meyer, Doug Pederson). Now, Khan is betting on a new “football leadership unit” of 52-year-old executive VP of football operations Tony Boselli, 39-year-old head coach Liam Coen, and 34-year-old general manager James Gladstone — all in their respective roles for the first time. “I look at it really positively,” Khan said Monday. “I think we have great people and a great team of people, even though they might be in the position for the first time … they're new, but [there’s] a huge amount of the potential to really grow into it.” -Gus Logue

  • 🏀 (NBA) Lakers G Luka Dončić. Following a triple double performance against his former team, the Dallas Mavericks, Dončić seems to have found his footing with the Lakers. The All-Star guard also made history in Los Angeles’ recent win over Cleveland, becoming only the third player in NBA history to record a triple double against all 30 NBA teams. L.A. has gone from a fringe playoff team who was on a hot streak to legit Western Conference (and even NBA Finals) contenders. It’s due to the fact that they now have acquired one of the most unstoppable forces the league has ever seen. -RJ Saunders

  • 🏀 (CBB) Alabama Crimson Tide. The Tide just keep on rolling. Alabama has won two straight, including a pummeling of #24 Mississippi State by 38 points on Tuesday. After Florida loss to Georgia, Alabama sits in sole possession of second place in the SEC with a rematch against #1 Auburn looming large. -Trent Osborne

  • ⚾️ Middleburg 2026 3B/RHP Johnny DeAntonis. The two-way star for the Broncos has been on a tear. Over the last week, DeAntonis is batting .500 with nine hits, three doubles, and six RBI. He has also excelled on the mound with two hitless innings. DeAntonis struck out three batters in a row with the bases loaded in a rivalry game vs. Orange Park on Thursday. He’s currently uncommitted, but numbers like these should change that soon. -Andrew Gibson

  • 🏈 Jaguars RG Brandon Scherff. It appears Scherff’s spell in Jacksonville is unofficially over. Coen has dropped several hints that he wants to prioritize the offense line, and Gladstone said on Tuesday: “By addressing the interior, that setting the dish for a quarterback is something that can be really helpful to their success.” The first spot to address is right guard, where Scherff started for the past three seasons — the former All-Pro is now 33 years old and set to hit free agency. Expect the Jaguars to hurdle a reunion with Scherff and hunt for other options, in both free agency and the draft. -Gus Logue

  • 🏀 (NBA) Orlando Magic. All-Star forward and franchise centerpiece Paolo Banchero said the quiet part out loud following the Magic’s recent 40-point loss to the Cavaliers. Changes certainly need to be made. However, following Jeff Welman’s decision to stand pat at the NBA trade deadline, those changes won’t come until next season. It’s understandable that the team felt they were going to give up too much for a win-now player. And maybe they view this as a lost season. However, to see glaring holes in your team and not attempt to make any attempt to plug them makes this a difficult second half of the season to watch if you’re a Magic fan. That’s disheartening, given this was a squad looking to make a run in the East this postseason. -RJ Saunders

  • 🏀 (CBB) Florida Gators. It’s never fun losing in late February. It’s double not fun when it’s to one of your most hated rivals. It’s triple not fun when it’s to your former head coach. It was a three-headed whammy of a bad night for Florida when they fell to Mike White and unranked Georgia on Tuesday. They’re still in line for a high seed in the NCAA Tournament, but their regular season conference title hopes are seemingly dashed. -Trent Osborne

  • ⚾️ MLB’s relationship with ESPN. The Worldwide Leader in Sports has opted out of the final three years of its contract with MLB. In a move announced Thursday, the two sides could not come to an agreement on the rights fee to air MLB coverage on the network beyond 2025. ESPN did not accept the $550 million price tag for rights to air MLB coverage past this season. MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred framed the split as his decision, calling the network a shrinking platform. ESPN, meanwhile, has gone all in on the NBA — committing an astounding $2.6 billion per year to coverage of pro basketball. Manfred indicated he has multiple potential network carriers for baseball but has not yet announced his plans. FOX, CBS, NBC, and streaming giants like Amazon and Apple figure to be among those to claim the rights to air MLB games after the 2025 season. -Andrew Gibson
