  • 🏈 (NFL) The Other Josh Allen. On the other side of Jacksonville’s 47-10 stinker in Buffalo was the performance of “the other” Josh Allen. The Bills quarterback produced the third-best game of his career in terms of passer rating on Monday Night Football. With 4 passing touchdowns against the Jaguars, and 9 total scores on the season, Allen is the current frontrunner for NFL MVP. -Gus Logue

  • 🏈 (CFB) Tennessee Volunteers. Don’t let the final score fool you — the Vols could have named the score against Oklahoma this past Saturday. Despite some trouble taking care of the ball, Josh Heupel’s squad looked like a team with no glaring weakness as they welcomed his alma mater to the SEC. Nico Iamaleava is as good of a signal caller as anyone in the country, and he has the surrounding skill players and defense of a legitimate National Championship contender. If the Volunteers can leave Athens still undefeated in mid-November, you’ll be looking at the no. 1 team in the country. -Trent Osborne

  • 🏀 Oklahoma City Thunder. This is the team that feels most put together in the West. Despite finishing last season as the no. 1 seed, few thought the Thunder had a great chance of representing the conference in the Finals. This year feels different. They have their superstar in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and made great additions by acquiring Alex Caruso and Isaiah Hartenstein. If any team takes advantage of the opportunity that’s in front of them, it’s going to be OKC. -RJ Saunders

  • ⚾️ Major change to Florida HS baseball playoff structure. The FHSAA board of directors on Tuesday voted 10-3 to approve best-of-three series in baseball starting this season. A best-of-three series will replace single-elimination games in every round of the regional playoffs. This is a change many head coaches in Florida have wanted for years. Clay High coach Josh Persinger called it “arguably the most monumental change in high school baseball in the history of our state.” -Andrew Gibson

  • 🏈 (NFL) Doug Pederson. The Jacksonville Jaguars are a broken team just three games into the season. After being thoroughly embarrassed by the Bills on primetime television, only the lowly Panthers have a worse point differential than the Jags this season. There’s a clear lack of trust between players and coaches — especially on the offensive side of the ball. Considering Shad Khan’s public desire to win now, and Pederson’s public ownership of the offense, there could be changes coming quickly in Duval. -Gus Logue

  • 🏈 (CFB) Oklahoma Sooners. Florida’s Billy Napier and Arkansas’ Sam Pittman may not be the only SEC head coaches on the hot seat. No one would have faulted the Sooners for looking competitive in a close loss to Tennessee, but “competitive” isn’t exactly the word people would use. Year 3 for Brent Venabales sees the offense looking as inept as ever, leading to their five-star savior at quarterback, Jackson Arnold, getting benched. The shiny six-year extension Venables signed this offseason may prop up his job security a bit, but it’s undeniable that belief in him amongst the fanbase is as an all-time low. -Trent Osborne

  • 🏀 Los Angeles Clippers. This was a team that won over 50 games last season, but they could take the biggest fall from grace of any Western Conference team this year. Losing Paul George to the Philadelphia 76ers and Russell Westbrook to the Denver Nuggets is going to hurt them more than they want to admit. Plus, franchise centerpiece Kawhi Leonard underwent a procedure on his knee in the offseason in hopes to be ready for the start of the year. The Clippers could flat miss the playoffs in 2024. -RJ Saunders

  • ⚾️ Cinderella teams in Florida HS playoffs. The downside to the FHSAA’s major shift on Tuesday is the likely elimination of the Cinderella run in the high school baseball playoffs. With single elimination, a lower seeded team had the opportunity in years past to make an unlikely run in the playoffs. The change to a best-of-three series will most often give the upper hand to the deeper, more talented teams in the high school baseball playoffs. -Andrew Gibson
