🏈 (NFL) Jaguars CB Jarrian Jones. Jacksonville’s third-round rookie recorded his first career sack and a couple of clutch pass breakups on Sunday. It was his best game yet. Jones won the starting slot job earlier in the season, and since then, he’s shown no reason to take him off the field. The Jaguars could still use another outside cornerback but it’s encouraging that Jones could join Tyson Campbell as longterm pillars in the secondary. -Gus Logue
🏈 (CFB) Georgia Bulldogs. This was the worst Georgia team in a half-decade, and they still found a way to win the SEC. With how chaotic the conference has been all season, it wasn’t surprising to see Kirby Smart will his guys to their second SEC Championship in three years. A “down year” resulting in a conference title and a bye in the college football playoff is very Saban-esqe and adds more fuel to the opinion that Smart will run the SEC in a similarly dominant fashion. Starting quarterback Carson Beck’s injury is a major cause for concern, but you can never truly count out the Bulldogs. -Trent Osborne
🏀 Grizzlies PG Ja Morant. In what was probably the most anticipated comeback coming into this season, Ja Morant has been as spectacular as ever. So far this year, Morant is averaging just under 22 points per game to go along with 8 assists and some jaw-dropping highlights. In addition, he has now led the Memphis Grizzlies back to prominence as the squad now sits in the number two spot in the Western Conference. He may be thinking about taking it easy on the dunks, but he sure has himself and his team flying high. -RJ Saunders
⚾️ Mets OF Juan Soto. The four-time All Star agreed to a 15-year, $765 million contract with the New York Mets on Sunday night. The staggering deal is the biggest contract in sports history. Soto is coming off a World Series appearance with the Yankees and a career-best 41 home runs. Mets owner Steve Cohen, viewed as the modern-day George Steinbrenner, was not going to be outbid for the 26-year-old superstar. Let’s just say 1010XL’s resident Mets fan, Dan Hicken, had an extra spring in his step on Monday morning. -Andrew Gibson

🏈 (NFL) Jaguars RB Travis Etienne. Though the fourth-year pro started Sunday’s game, he only saw 4 carries compared to Tank Bigsby’s 18. Even with the emergence of Bigsby, Etienne will continue to have a sizable role, but it seems he’s now in the 1B spot rather than 1A. Etienne averaged 5.1 yards per carry in 2022 but has been below the 4.0 line the past two seasons. -Gus Logue
🏈 (CFB) Florida State Seminoles. The hits just keep on coming for the Noles. If their 2-10 season wasn’t bad enough, FSU got battered on the recruiting trail as well. Many of their four and five-star commitments flipped to other schools in the final weeks of recruitment (including multiple heading southeast to play for the Florida Gators). The worst news came Tuesday morning when promising freshman quarterback Luke Kromenhoek entered the transfer portal. The massive buyout is keeping Mike Norvell’s job safe for the time being, but if things aren't turned around soon, the pitchforks will be out in Tallahassee. -Trent Osborne
🏀 Heat SF Jimmy Butler. The trade talks have now poked through when it comes to Jimmy Butler and his future in Miami. It seems Butler himself is open to a new landing spot — the six-time All-Star is reportedly open to playing for the Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors. There's no doubt that you'd love to see Butler stay and retire as a member of the Heat. However, he is a free agent at the end of the year. If the front office doesn't believe a new deal can get done, you may explore moving him before February's deadline. -RJ Saunders
⚾️ Atlanta Braves starting rotation. This may prove to be an overreaction, but there is no doubt the Braves rotation took a hit with the loss of Max Fried to the Yankees. The two-time All Star has been a steady veteran presence over the past eight years in Atlanta. He helped deliver a World Series title in 2021. The Braves‘ rotation has strong pieces to work with, but the team has work to do this winter to fill the void left behind by Fried’s departure. -Andrew Gibson
