  • 🏈 (NFL) Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr. Goodness gracious. Jacksonville’s 23rd overall pick is officially the best rookie receiver in franchise history, and he’s well on his way to becoming one of the best players in franchise history. He joins Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, Amon-Ra St. Brown and Terry McLaurin as the only players with 950-plus receiving yards and 8-plus receiving scores this season, and his 5 catches of 40-plus yards is the most by any rookie since Chase in 2021. The exciting part is that BT has largely relied on his athleticism to beat the guys across from him (understandably so). If he hones in on his fundamentals and technique, though, the kid could be a future Hall of Famer, especially considering his longterm pairing with with Trevor Lawrence. He’s the real deal. -Gus Logue

  • 🏈 (CFB) Florida State Seminoles. After a rough week in the transfer portal, luck has started to turn around for the Seminoles. Mike Norvell finally has his quarterback for 2025 in Boston College transfer Thomas Castellanos. The former Golden Eagle is one of the best dual-threat signal callers returning to college football next season and should give a major boost to FSU’s offense. -Trent Osborne

  • 🏀 Milwaukee Bucks. The team that lost eight of its first 10 games have completely made a 180. The Bucks have now won 12 of their last 15 games and competed for the Emirates NBA Cup. Whether or not this propels them to a point to where they’re looked at as the biggest threat to the Boston Celtics in the East remains to be seen. This is still a much older team that is heavily reliant on their superstar duo (Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard) to carry them game after game. However, going from a shaky beginning to the year to now making sure the NBA doesn’t forget about them, you have to be interested to see how they continue their play this season. -RJ Saunders

  • ⚾️ Yankees LHP Max Fried. The New York Yankees officially announced the signing of the two-time All Star and longtime Atlanta Braves standout on Tuesday. The deal for Fried to the Yankees is eight years, $218 million. The contract includes the largest guarantee in baseball history for a left-handed pitcher. His addition to the Yankees starting rotation forms perhaps the best 1-2 punch in baseball with Gerrit Cole. -Andrew Gibson

  • 🏈 (NFL) Jaguars CB Ronald Darby. The 10th-year NFL veteran did not play during Sunday’s loss to the Jets. As Doug Pederson explained on Monday, “I just think Buster’s [Montaric Brown] been playing well. Really just giving him an opportunity … moving forward with the last three games, I think you’ll see Buster and hopefully get a chance to see Tre [De’Antre Prince] and just kind of see where he’s at as well.” The 3-11 Jaguars are officially at the point where they’re resting veterans, like Darby, in order to give younger players a look. -Gus Logue

  • 🏈 (CFB) Florida Gators. The Gators have certainly been one of the winners of the recruitment season over the last six weeks, but that bill finally coming due. Solid pass rushers Jack Pyburn (Bolles School product) and TJ Searcy have both entered the transfer portal. Searcy has not decided where he will be attending school next year, but Pyburn has already committed to the LSU Tigers. Pyburn will face his old team when the Gators travel to Baton Rouge to take on the Tigers this September. -Trent Osborne

  • 🏀 New Orleans Pelicans. It’s been a wild year for New Orleans. Who would’ve thought that a team who had fair expectations going into the year are now coming to the realization that it’s time to blow it up and start over? The Pelicans, now at 5-22 and losers of 19 out of their last 21 games, are reportedly open to trading anyone on their roster except Herb Jones, Yves Missi and Trey Murphy III. Assuming health wasn’t a factor, many would’ve believed this would be a strong team that would make the NBA Playoffs. It will be interesting to see which teams who are contenders seek the services of the now-available Pelicans stars (Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, C.J. McCollum, Dejounte Murray). -RJ Saunders

  • ⚾️ Rays stadium plans. According to the Tampa Bay Times, the deal is still not done for the Rays stadium of the future. The Pinellas County Commission approved paying for part of a new Tampa Bay Rays stadium on Tuesday but told team owners that it is now their move. The board said it’s on the team to decide whether it wants to go through with building a $1.3 billion stadium. The rising cost of the project is creating doubt about the completion of the stadium that was promised. -Andrew Gibson
